Yesterday I spent some time drawing one of my Iris flowers from the garden, but I'm not sure what to do with it now, so I'll share it here :)

Exciting news :)

Hello!
Hope you are all keeping warm on this snowstorm Monday.
I have some photo's to share with you from this weekends fair at the Custard Factory in Birmingham, sadly it was not one of the better fairs I have been too, could of been due to the weather, but with the lack of advertising that is doubtful...It didn't really matter anyway since we had tied the day into meeting friends and going for some food so the fair was sort of a bonus activity!

Every cloud has a silver lining though because it was at the fair that I met one of my THREE brand new stockists! Laura Loves Boutique :) Take a peek on my stockists page for more information.
After packing up and escaping the fair, we had a little wander around brum before going for dinner at Bodega's - Not somewhere I'd ever eaten before, but it was all Mexican themed and the food was almost Tapas style that we chose :) Could of had a larger meal each but loads of little nibbles is always good! I didn't take any photos but here are some from their website....

It has to be said, my Elderflower Fizz was top notch! :)

Sunday consisted of an epic tidy of my studio and the house, a trip to Ikea to buy some new storage so I can keep a better tab on my stock levels - Photos to come soon!

Last night it was bought to my attention that on twitter I now have 2,200 followers! Plus some more, and so I wanted to say a huge thankyou to everyone for putting up with me, and I can only hope that the future will stay bright!
So as a little thankyou I have a selection of FREE GIFTS to give out with EVERY order I receive (while stocks last) :) That offer has started...now!

Best Friends

The idea of best friends and giving cards and prints for those closest to us has been playing on my mind for a while now. Do you show your best friend how much they mean to you? Do they know?
With this in mind, I created this illustration that you saw a sneaky peek of earlier today :) This will be working it's way onto some new cards soon, and maybe a print. Maybe one you can add a personalised message too, what do you think?

A little sneak peek

It's been a busy week this week, but I've finally had some time to sit down and work on those new designs I've been meaning to tackle! Here's a little sneaky peek :)

Fairy Tale

Since I haven't shared any of my illustration with you in while I thought I'd share my submission to our collectives theme this month :) Based on the Fairy Tale of Hansel and Gretel I created a limited colour pallet  illustration and my first pattern. Whoo!

I was nervous about sharing these since I used a very different p process to create them then I usually do. You can see more over on our blog - Pencil Play Collective
Happy Monday!

Friday Feature- Happy Menocal

Yes, I know that it's not Friday anymore but I found this artist and I so want to share :) And you know what, it's my blog and I'm going to!
So here is the wonderful work of Happy Menocal an artist and illustrator from NYC. She creates these amazing pieces of work that feel really free, and I need to allow myself to take note and not be so 'clean' when I work, actually allow the materials to help me mark make even when it's unexpected.

Friday Feature - Emma Henderson

I thought it might be nice to share some of the lovely work I find with you on Fridays as a little feature on my blog :) So today, since I've been looking at a lot of pattern work this week I thought I'd share Emma Henderson's beautiful patterns with you. (found via Print&Pattern)

She set herself the challenge of doing a pattern a day and it's worked wonderfully. I think that maybe over the next few months I'll try and devise a little challenge for myself, something that allows me to get back to basics....hmm!
I hope you enjoyed her work as much as I did, happy Friday!

Daffodils

Hello,
Feeling any better today you ask? I'm afraid not, being in bed has pretty much been my day today...Your right, it does sound fun, but it hasn't been....
Positive thinking makes you better though, right? So after dinner tonight I came and had a go at some illustration work (I keep feeling guilty for not doing any.)
Since we've got Mothers Day just around the corner and I'm obsessing about flowers at the moment I thought Daffodils were in order, and so....

Understated colour. What do you reckon?
I think it'll make a nice card, and be a lovely breath of fresh air against my more digital/screen printed work...
Oh oh, since I'm expanding on my card range at the moment too I ordered a book called 'I Love Stationery' which is filled with lovely examples of different processes artists use to create some beautiful cards. A really cute little book :)

Hello,
Today is a sick day for me, I'm full of cold and so tired that I've forced myself to have a sofa day. However, that does not mean I can't show you some screen prints that have been cheering me up does it? :)

Floral

Today I've been doing some work on some spring time flowers, still got a way to go but I thought I'd share some picture with you.
I'm wondering if working on these with real paint, and real paper might be more fun though!

Brand New Site!

Hello! I'm very excited to be launching Louise Wright Designs! An official place for my business to live, where you can keep up with my upcoming events, whats happening, and get to see sneaky previews of new products. I've made the important decision to separate my products from my illustration work because it was confusing me, let alone anyone else...It's quite late at night now so I'll keep this short and sweet but I've got lots of exciting things in the pipeline which I'm looking forward to sharing with you all. In the meantime here is one of my brand new cards for Valentines day. I'm working on expanding my card range at the moment, Mothers Day next of course!
